Angie’s Turbulent Teens ~ An Overview

The other day, or last week, or whenever it was, I was chatting with another blogger about our teen years. They asked if I’d ever shared any of my stories on my blog. I told them that I hadn’t, not because I’m ashamed or embarrassed, (Here’s your warning…I was wild) but I really didn’t think anyone would be interested. They encouraged me to do it, so here it is.

I’ve been thinking about how to write about it, there are so many stories. I did a lot of crazy things. It was the 80s and all (well, not all…) my peers were living the Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll life, so I joined in. It was like that movie Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Fun fact… The book, then film was based on a high school about five miles from my high school.

I was thinking I could do this in a few posts and break it down by who I was hanging out with, or by “First Time I____”, what happened at the many, various concerts I went to… I can’t decide, so here’s a very broad overview. You can let me know what you want to read more about.

It started when my mother and soon to be step-father decided to move in together. We moved from a small two bedroom apartment in a lower income area to a four bedroom house in an upper income “planned community”. I was eleven or twelve and a complete dork. (I’ll include pics in future posts) I was a late-bloomer, I was naive, I was insecure. I would meet someone in class, make friends and desperately latch on. I followed whatever they wanted to do. Mostly. In the early days.

What do you want to read about? The first time I got drunk when I was twelve?

The first time I smoked marijuana, clove cigarettes, regular cigarettes?

The time I got arrested for grand theft?

The keg parties at houses that got trashed like in Sixteen Candles?

The times we got drunk or high at lunch and went back to school?

The time I was almost crushed then partially stripped at a concert?

Why my sixteenth birthday was the worst. ever.?

My adventures with LSD, ‘shrooms, cocaine, crystal meth?

Or should I start with sixth grade (Tony Hawk went to middle school with me) and continue on?

Tell me what you’d like to read about and I will do it.
