Part 142 ~ The Adventures of King Ben & Zeus the Big Dumb Dog

Ben slept until about 6:15pm yesterday evening. He woke up about the same time as Younger’s arrival. I got his meds ready and gave them to him. I left it up to Younger and Ben whether he wanted to go to his room or stay in the living room. He didn’t want to take a bath so Auntie was given instructions to make sure he used the toilet, washed his hands and face and bushed his teeth before going to bed. Older finished getting ready then I took her to work.

Ben and Zeus were in Ben’s room when I got back. I took Ben’s water bottle in to him and gave him a kiss. Younger and I chatted for a half hour or so, then hugs and she went home.

I looked at the sunset and took a few pictures. Nothing I haven’t posted before. Ben was still awake but quiet for the most part. I let him be, and relaxed.

I konked out unintentionally around 9:30pm and woke up a little after 11pm. I listened for Ben but didn’t hear him specifically. There was noise outside and sound is weird, like everything else, at Casa Cuckoo, so I couldn’t tell if Ben was awake or not. I decided not to take a sleeping pill since it was later than usual and I needed to make sure I got us both up in the morning so we could get Daughter from work.

I went back to sleep around midnight and woke up around 4:00am. I stayed awake. Ben slept on… I considered the many variations of his morning wakeups for me, and thought about how I might wake him up if I needed to. I have to admit, the thought of Bouncing him crossed my mind, but he can be very grumpy when he’s woken up. Not a good way to start the day.

He woke up a little bit when I let Zeus out of the room around 6:15am. When I went back at 6:45 with his meds, he’d dozed back off. I gave him the meds and made him get up and use the bathroom. I did the Sven morning thing but didnt poke or paparazzi him. Then we were on the couch until 7:15, when we left to get Daughter.

Daughter tried to talk Ben into going with her to her room, but he said “It’s fine.” which means No. So we settled into a Casa Cuckoo morning.

Ben was doing the surfing the tablet thing, I was doing the email, WP, games thing and Zeus was trying to make one of us move so he could get on the couch. I was in the middle of a game when Ben reached over and tried to touch my screen. I pulled it out of his reach but turned so he could see the screen better. He said “Don’t touch”, I told him that’s right, but I would show him how to play if he wanted to play a game after me. So I continued to play and then I noticed he was really still… he’d fallen asleep. It was 9:30am. That was a good time to sleep, better than 3pm or 4pm. Hope he’s not getting sick again, and if he is, from what?

I grabbed my stuff and went back to my room. No sense being on the uncomfortable couch when I could get Horizontal on my bed.

The 10:45 med alarm went off, but I just ignored it. I figured I’d give him the med whenever he woke up. About fifteen minutes later I heard “Gramma?” in a small voice. I told him I was coming. I grabbed my stuff and moved back to the couch. I gave him the pill and sat next to him.

Ben did chalk, watched his tablet, made Happy Noises, scripted, paced… Ben did Ben Things for the rest of the morning into the afternoon. I did Peasant Things and Angie Things. There was one incident that stands out…

“I need help!” Ben said to me. “What do you need, babylove?” I asked him. “Booger. It’s stuck. I need help.” Seriously??
Luckily he was able to do without my help… “I did it!” Ben exclaimed, holding his finger out, and I received the prize with a tissue.
Fun times at the Casa today.

Daughter got up around 2:00pm and came to take over. I had her change the dressing on my leg. It’s still healing, but there’s still a gap along the split. It’s going to take longer to heal because I didn’t get stitches to close it, but overall it’s healing well.

I gave my report and went to my room. Ben followed a couple minutes later. He was back and forth as usual. A chill afternoon.

Daughter has work again tonight, so we’re entering the Pregame Show portion of our afternoon/evening. The time before first med and the rest of the song and dance before Driving Miss Daisy.

Thanks for sharing another mostly chill day. Hopefully tonight the sleeping situation will return to normal.
