Me? Really?

Rory over at A Guy Called Bloke has three new questions for us. I figured I better put something new up before people stop visiting ๐Ÿ˜‰

What is the silliest thing you have heard people say about you?

This was a difficult one. Beside the obvious “Wow! You’re really tall” I haven’t heard of anything that someone has said about me in a long time.

My ex had a whole bunch of insults he’d hurl at me whenever he needed to let off steam. One of his favorites was “Your ass sucks buttermilk through a thin straw.” Yeah, okay… what does that even mean? And honestly, if my ass was able to do that, wouldn’t that be an amazing feat? So, wouldn’t that be a compliment? I’m still bewildered. I guess you gotta give him points for creativity.

Which of your personality traits has been the most useful?

My endurance has been the most useful. I don’t know if it’s a personality trait. I guess it could be called stubbornness… or foolishness.

Whatever word you want to use, it all means the same thing… I refuse to stay down. No matter what the universe sends my way, I keep putting one foot in front of the other. If I get pushed into the pit of despair, I climb back out. If I get battered, bruised and broken, I just do Monty Python’s Black Knight and keep going. I don’t know how to be any other way.

Are you a early bird or a night owl?

I am a sleep-whenever-I-can fowl. I am a chronic insomniac who lives with an extreme early bird autistic child. Most days I see midnight, always 3am for some reason and am usually awakened between 4:30 and 5:00am by Ben.

If I could set my own sleeping schedule it might not be too different from this. I like to be awake at sunrise because its peaceful and beautiful and energizing to hear and see the day come to life. I used to go walking at sunrise before I was alone with Ben most mornings.

I would probably nap during the afternoon until early evening, I’d want to see the sunset and my favorite time of day, twilight.

Then, I would stay up until midnight or 1am. I like the quiet of the late night, when most people are home and sleeping.

Rinse, repeat…

Its not eight hours in one shot, but I haven’t been able to do that in decades anyway.

So that’s me. What about you?

        1. Its bizarre too because I take a max dose of a prescription sleeping medication every night… ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ We get accustomed to what we have to. My life has always been… adventurous. Lots of great stories and many many lessons learned.

          1. Youโ€™re right if we take a medication for a certain period of time the body gets used to it and the effectiveness decreases. According to the sleep experts there are many techniques to fall asleep. I havenโ€™t found any that worked except deep breathing.

  1. Hey Grandma, nicely answered – always my thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

How does anyone come up with insults like that anyhoo? So l agree on the creative part, it’s like you are not being insulted, but you are and then when you think of it – you are.

Eeek your sleeping pattern with Ben is a nightmare, we have similiar with madam la pooch at present, she makes my night owl hood go bonkers.

  2. Yeah, the buttermilk quip is an odd one – what does that mean? You’ve got a great personality trait there! Sometimes I let the punches push me down longer than I would like – just gotta follow you and keep putting one foot in front of the other!

    1. Thanks Robyn๐Ÿค— Honestly, there have been times I wish I could stay down. At least for a little while.
Mostly I’m happy to know that I can handle whatever happens. Its takes a lot of fear away.
      Happy Monday, school day!!๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ˜˜

    1. Thanks Beckie๐Ÿฅฐ yeah, 8 hours is like a mirage, or an urban myth…you hear about it but have never witnessed it yourself๐Ÿ˜‰

My ex was definitely wacko! I think he must have made up the buttermilk thing… he used it like “you’re full of shit”๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ I’ve never understood. One time I asked him, and he gave me an incredulous look and told me to get my head out of my ass. He had a thing about rear ends I guess๐Ÿ˜‚ Mostly when he was on a rant, I tried to tune him out. He didnt need my participation. He would argue, state my “counter point”, then argue against it. And he could go on for hours and hours… it was exhausting.
      Still, pretty creative๐Ÿ˜‚

My ex fiance’ used to drive me nuts when I would be getting ready to go to work or an outing… “Beauty Parlor Time?”
Or, Lord forbid I removed myself from the room to go to the bathroom… “Are you going for a tinkle?”
NO, I’M GOING IN THERE TO BAKE YOU A CAKE! ๐Ÿคฌ
Flashbacks of stupid shit ever said… I wish I could go back in time with a taser and zap the living crap out of them all! LOL! ๐Ÿคช ๐Ÿ˜ต
